June 2017

As many of you are aware there is a lot of building work happening in Ocean village at present including the new hotel which will overlook the marina. This in turn has obviously caused a lot of disruption in the village and has marginally impacted on the business in that it is not quite as easy to park a coach right next to the boarding gate as it was for passengers to board the boat. There may be now a short walk across the road depending on the situation on the day. As the buildings are now nearing completion this should soon be rectified but rest assured in the mean time we are making sure to make it as easy as possible and are happy to aide anyone needing extra information on parking and boarding measures.

Sometime over the coming months we are considering a new berth for the boats in the local area, should this happen we will be keeping everyone fully informed in plenty of time for their cruise.

With all that has been happening locally there has been no impact on the business, in fact we are extremely busy and business is going very well with bookings at a higher level than ever. The little bit of sunshine we are now enjoying certainly makes the phones ring. Most of our public cruises are now nearly fully booked.
We suffered an unfortunate set back on our Day to Bucklers Hard which had proved very popular last year. Problems with the boarding pontoon meant we had to cancel all trips down there for this year. Fingers crossed its all sorted for next year and we can resume cruising!

There have been some big changes for Blue Funnel in that we made the decision to sell our vessel Ashleigh R and purchase the Hythe Ferry now known as Blue Funnel Ferries. Our aim is to bring the company up to a standard the public has come to expect from Blue Funnel businesses and we are well on the way to achieving a good level already with a refurbishment of the old boat, now called Hythe Scene and an increase in business. Blue Funnel Ferries will be offering the same daily ferry service but will now be offering extra runs for local events such as the football and events like Common People.

Janurary 2016

Another year has flown by. 2015 was extremely busy for Blue Funnel covering all our own events and offering cover to other boat businesses when they needed our help.
The new river cruises we opened last year were really well received especially the day out to Gunwharf and of course the ever popular Cowes Week Specials. With this in mind we are offering even more dates for both this year. You can obtain a copy of our 2016 brochure by contacting the office on 02380 223278.

New for this year on our day itinerary will be the all day cruise to Bucklers Hard  including ploughman's lunch and entrance into the Bucklers Hard Museum. What could be better on a Summer day in England then the beautiful Beaulieu river and surrounding scenery.

We are also planning some Sunday Lunch specials on selected dates along with the regular lunch cruises and of course Mother's & Father's Day lunches which are always very popular.

Every month throughout the summer will see a range of party cruises you can purchase tickets for. Whether you would like a return to the 60's or a feel good Caribbean style party we cover it all this year. Party cruises can be run anytime throughout the year so if you don't see the date you want on our itinerary give us a call and we will see if we can help you start your own party night.

For those who love seeing the Cruise ships when in port there will be 4 & 5 Liner sailaways and Harbour Tours to view them while in port starting with the 3 Queens on January 10th before they leave for their world cruises. They will be back together in Southampton on 22nd May & 5th June, both dates will be available for Sailaways.

Our boat Oliver B will be heading back down to Bucklers Hard in March ready to start another season cruising along the Beaulieu river. We had an extremely busy season down their last year and hoping this year will bring more of the same.

We hope you all have a fantastic 2016!

January 2015

As we enter a new season its a chance to look back and take stock of all we have achieved over the last year.

Having designed an all new 12 page brochure last year with a variety of scheduled trips throughout the season included we've managed to carry a record number of passengers over the last 12 months. these trips included the highly successful all day cruises during Cowes week. Believe it or not we have already filled 2 dates for 2015 so if you would like to join us this year don't leave it long in booking.

With that in mind we have tried again this year to add more new events and bring out an even better more extensive brochure. These include an all day cruise to Portsmouth with time ashore to shop at the retail outlet Gunwharf. With its many waterside restaurants and cafes its a great place to spend a couple of hours on a sunny summers day.

We will again be offering the very competitively priced Mother's & Father's Day Lunch cruises. At only 19.95 a person for cruise and 2 course silver service meal finished with coffee & mints, what better way to treat your mum and dad to a day out.
We will also be offering this special rate on some of our Christmas Lunch Cruises contact us for more information & dates or for a brochure.

Lastly I must mention two new themed evenings we are offering....

Curry & Quiz night Friday 26th June. Can you get a team together? Its only 10 a ticket and includes Curry & Rice with Naan Bread. Oh and there's prizes for the first 3 places.

Who fondly remembers the music from the 60's & 70's? We are putting on a revival night, playing all the great tunes from those two revolutionary decades. Tickets only 19.95 including a basket meal on Friday 31st July. Fancy dress welcome.

If anyone out there has any other great ideas for a day trip or themed party night get in touch.

Lastly, we are always available for private charter so if you have a special event coming up like a Birthday or Anniversary spend it with us cruising the Solent waterways. Corporate charter welcome.

Thanks for keeping up to date with us and don't forget to 'Like' us on Facebook where we add many special offers and late deal discounts.

JUNE 2014

Its that busy in the office I never seem to get time to write any news these days.

We had a quiet start throughout January and February & March taking bookings for the coming year but not out on the boat much. All change in April, the boats in and out almost daily and the phone ringing off the hook with bookings.

Our public day cruises have been very well received from our new brochure and most of them are nearly full. I think I would be right in saying the new style 'Cowes Week Special' cruise is rivalling our Fish & Chip cruise in popularity. If anyone has any great ideas for cruises in 2015 share them with us, we are always open to new ideas.

What a success the 3 Queens day was. We had more bookings then boats. Our sister company Solent & Wightline brought theirs over to help us cope with the volume of passengers. Although the weather wasn't great again.... we all had a really good day, the fireworks where spectacular and we got some great photos.

Can you believe we are already turning our thoughts to Christmas and have scheduled Lunch Cruise, Party Cruises, Dinner Dances and the most popular Santa Cruises throughout December and we haven't even really started our Summer schedule yet!

Dates for your diary in June:

Fathers Day on the 15th, only a few places remain on this Lunch Cruise
River Boat Shuffle - These party cruises are going out on the 14th & 28th
Many more dates to view on the itinerary page.

The beginning of February, where has the time gone. Hope all our customers had a lovely if rather wet Christmas. We certainly enjoyed the break after a very busy year but we are now looking forward to a busy 2014.

Firstly I would like to mention our new brochure format. It is now a 12 page mini booklet packed with information about Blue Funnel and all the different cruises we offer. There are more than ever pre-scheduled cruises for you to choose from and you will find them all throughout the brochure. Whether you are looking for a 1 hour Harbour tour, Sailaway Cruise to watch the ships leave port or a Caribbean party night you will find it all in the brochure. There are even Christmas dates available for Dinner Dances, Lunch Cruises, and of course Santa Cruises with Scotty the Clown, now so popular we've had to open 4 dates this year! Please give us a ring or send an email if you would like a hard copy of the brochure if not just download it straight from our website.

The 3 Queens day on 9th May is filling fast. We still have plenty of space on our Harbour Tours which will run during the day to see the Cruise liners while in port but the sailaway if nearly full. There are a few spaces left on one of our boats so book sooner rather than later it you want a ticket.
Dates for your diaries, Oasis of the seas, one of the two largest Cruise Liners in the world will be visiting the port of Southampton on 15th October. We are now selling tickets to see her leave port.
2nd November we have a brand new boat in port, she is Quantum of the Seas. Tickets for her sailaway are also available.

Lets all wish for another summer filled with sunshine so we can all enjoy lazy days out on the waters and make the most of our lovely sun decks. If the sun should hide away it doesn't really matter as our boats have great interior decks too with perfect views from all the windows so you wont miss anything.

I will keep you informed throughout the year of what we have coming up in the near future.
The early part of this year is dominated by the Mother's Day Lunch Cruise in March and the 3 Queens in May. But have a look at the itinerary page as there are many more trips on offer.

The end of a lovely summer season. Hope you all enjoyed the hot weather as much as we did. It certainly brought people onto the boats, I've never seen so many trips so full.
With that in mind we have decided to offer a set scheduled tours itinerary next year so people can book well in advance. We will of course still be adding to our schedule throughout the year but we want people to have a range of dates and cruises they can choose from if they would like to plan early. These dates will be added to our itinerary page within the next month.

We are also bringing out a brand new brochure with full information on these trips and all the other events we can offer. give us a call on 023 8022 3278 or email to if you would like to be sent a brochure.

A couple of special events for your 2014 calendar - The 3 Queens are back in port together for one day on May 9th, we will be doing a range of cruises throughout the day to view them and a sailaway to watch them leave.

On October 15th Oasis of the Seas is in port for the first time, this is already causing some interest so we are putting on a Sailaway and maybe harbour Tours as well if requested.

Christmas is creeping up on us again so if you are looking for somewhere for a works party or social evening for your group think about a cruise on one of our boats.
We offer Christmas Lunch Cruises and evening Party cruises with either a Buffet of Dinner Dance. The Christmas page has full information and you can find scheduled dates on our itinerary.

Last but not least we also have an all new wedding brochure with a range of exciting new packages to choose from. If you are looking for a Wedding Venue with a difference or know someone who is we think Blue Funnel could provide you with the perfect day.

MARCH 2013

The early part of the year is usually quiet for Blue Funnel, time to take the boats out of the water and do their yearly maintenance. That's all done now and we are ready to go!

Oliver B is back down Beaulieu at the end of the month in time for Easter so if you fancy a trip along the beautiful Beaulieu River with a full commentary we will be there for the Easter Holidays.

We will be looking to arrange a Harbour Tour on these dates and maybe a Sailaway if we have enough interest. Give us a ring if you would like to participate.

The itinerary for 2013 is growing daily we have a selection of trips to offer so there should be something for everyone.

'A note for your diary'- Royal Princess will be the largest Princess Cruise Ship to come into the port of Southampton in June next year. Keep an eye on the website for what we will be doing to mark this occasion.

At the moment we are busy with all our festive cruises. Christmas Lunches most days and Dinner Dances at the weekends.

September 2012

Just a quick catch up as its manic here at the moment. This is due to the fact we are moving office. After 10+ years in our little porta cabin we are moving to new premises in Ferry House. For those of you who are familiar with Ocean Village we will now be where the old NatWest Bank used to be in Ferry House on the corner of Canute Road, next to the Public House 'The Admiral Sir Lucius Curtis'.
This will be happening during October, we endeavour to have our systems up and operating as quickly as possible but please bear with us if we are out of contact for a few hours.
Remember you can always contact us anytime through our 'Like' page on Facebook as that can be accessed from any of our computers or mobiles.

I would like to end this months news by mentioning the wonderful Wedding Reception we held on Ocean Scene last weekend for Linzi & Jon. It was a lovely day the bride looked quite beautiful. There are some great pictures on our 'wedding & pictures' pages of Ocean Scene all laid out for the big day. We are hoping to add some of the bride and groom at a later date.

Look below for our most recent reviews including one kindly sent in by Lindsay's Father, although we cannot add every review to our website we really do appreciate your feedback, thank you.

August 2012

Although the weather has been appalling we have been very busy. June and July were taken up with the 3 Queens Sailaway and P&O 7's special Birthday Celebrations. The rain lashed down but the people kept on coming, nobody wanted to miss this special event. We had so much positive feedback about the events that I couldn't list it all but I will be putting some of the reviews on our review sight below. It would be lovely to hold some more special events like this in the future, lets see what comes up, I will let you know as soon as I know!

We are in the midst of Cowes Week at the moment, enjoying the Yachts in all their splendour, the week will end with a special Firework Cruise on our boat Ocean Scene chartered by Wave 105 this is always a great night and the boat will again be full. Make a note in your diary to join us next year.

Followed by 3rd July, P&O's 7 Liners in port together for the first time.

March 2012

We have hired every boat that we can for these occasions and we are still running out of tickets. Please call us soon if you want to join us on the day.

Next month marks the Centenary of the Titanic departing the port of Southampton. Maybe a visit to the Titanic museum then a Harbour Tour with us on Saturday 14th April, the day 100 years ago she hit the ice burg would be a good way to mark this occasion.

Private Charter guest - To whom it may concern, I would just like to 'Thank all the staff' especially the catering and restaurant staff for looking after me at the UK HMA event held on Ocean Scene on Wednesday evening. I have an intolerance to Egg and Chicken and your staff could not have been more caring and understanding.

Please 'Thank' them again from me. Kind regards Celia Thomson

Private Charter - Dear sir/madam, I just wanted to write a short note of thanks for providing such an excellent evening last Sunday (30th June). We had a fabulous celebration, the food was great, and your staff most helpful. All the guests enjoyed the evening and I shall certainly be recommending you to friends! Very many thanks Phil Clarke

Public cruise - Hi Lesley I just wanted to say thank you for all your help. My mum & dad loved their cruise today. They find it difficult getting out and about and this was a real treat for them as it covered ground/water they used to sail over - they certainly saw lots of changes. I would not have felt confident booking it for them without all the information you gave me - it was really appreciated! The crew were brilliant - so friendly, helpful and fun so please pass on our thanks to them too.

Thanks again Sue

PRIVATE CHARTER 50TH WEDDING ANNIVERSARY - We wish to thank you for a very enjoyable cruise on 31st August, to celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Our compliments to the chef for a meal that would flatter many a good hotel & for the marvellous attention of the captain and crew. Thanking you Maureen & Eric Griffiths

PRIVATE CHARTER 18TH BIRTHDAY - Dear all just wanted to say a Big Thank You for last Friday, my son had his eighteenth Birthday in style, all of the guests loved it. The food was delicious. I know that my friend and her husband are thinking of having their anniversary on one of your vessels. Everything went perfectly on Friday than you very much to Paul, we had a delivery of balloons and he decorated the table area so well, set things out so nicely. Thanks again Paul!

I hope next time we are back with you it will be in spring/summer then we can enjoy the views by daylight. Thanks again Mrs Sue Saleh

Private Charter BAT - I would like to say a very big thank you for our New Year Luncheon on board the "Ocean Scene", the sea was a little choppy in the Solent (Rob got us out of it very quickly) but it was a glorious, bright, sunny, crisp January day and the trip to Cowes and back was very enjoyable with many enjoying a spell on the upper deck.

The meal was excellent as it is always. The tables looked lovely and very inviting. Paul was his very efficient and caring self, everything was perfection to the finest detail, nothing was to much trouble for him or the rest of the crew and everything ran like clock work. The new chef also passed with flying colours, not an easy task in such a small galley. I would like to mention Trevor who was so helpful.

Thank you for keeping the cost of the event in the price range for all our pensioners to have such a lovely day out. They are already asking me when the date is 2014 (I think Paul would be happy if we came 4 times a year!).

We look forward to seeing you again in 2014

Again with many thanks - Mrs Heather Day, Chairman BAT Retirement Fellowship

Santa Cruise - We have just been on the Santa Cruise what a fantastic time we had! Everybody involved was friendly. Scotty the Clown was fantastic. The gift from Santa was excellent. Not cheap junk.

It was by far the best "Santa's Grotto" event we have ever experienced and superb value for money too. Thank you very much Blue Funnel!

The Flemming Family

Wedding Reception - Hey Lesley - I meant to write to you sooner but its been go go go since our wedding! I wanted to thank you and everyone at Blue Funnel for making our wedding day so special. Your help and professionalism has literally been second to none, all the staff in fact have been amazing. I honestly didn't think our wedding reception could have been as perfect as it was. Planning our wedding from 4500 miles away, in theory, should have been a nightmare when in fact you made it very easy! Thank you so much Lesley from the bottom of my heart!

We really enjoyed steering the boat while our guests were milling around downstairs, what a cool experience to have on an already incredible day?! I seriously cannot find fault with any part of our wedding reception or the months leading up to it.

Thank you to absolutely everyone involved in making our wedding so wonderful, you are all worth your weight in gold.... and I think that you all deserve HUGE pay-rises as well as Xmas bonus'.

Very best wishes and heartfelt thanks Jon & Linzi Taylor

Blue Funnel wishes to thank Linzi and Jon for such a wonderful review, you were a pleasure to work with and we are so glad you enjoyed every moment of your special day. Good luck for your future life in Canada

Wedding Reception - Blue Funnel made Linzi & Jon's wedding so memorable. A beautifully decorated boat. The staff were happy to help, smiling throughout. In particular Paul was a perfect host, and the skipper was so helpful and polite.

An overall great wedding reception, we would highly recommend it to anyone. From the initial look over the boat to leaving at the end of what was a wonderful experience, the whole Blue Funnel event was fantastic. The boat looked so nice and themed with Linzi's chosen colours. The food was so good and well presented. Excellent staff all day.

Thanks again to all the staff in particular Paul, the skipper and Brian the DJ and a big thanks to Lee for all the special attention we received. Mr Dave Coates

Wedding Reception  - To Lesley and the Blue Funnel Team. Thank you so much for everything you did to ensure our wedding went smoothly.

Both us and all of our guests had a great time.

Would recommend you to anyone holding a similar event. Thank you David & Louise Blackstone

Sailaway -  - Dear Janet/Lesley and all the staff, WOW is the only way to describe our excursion to see the departure of the P & O Seven Cruise Liners.

All of our members with husbands and friends had a most wonderful experience and the comments when leaving the 'Ashley R' proved this and likewise emails I have already received today. Despite the weather, which nobody can control, it was an evening to be remembered forever.

Of course non of this would have been possible without your careful planning together with the crew who as usual looked after us and served up our cream teas so cheerfully.

Thank you to everybody involved at Blue Funnel who made this memorable occasion so special. Best wishes to you all. Pearl Davis (Sec. Hampshire West Trefoil Guild)

Sailaway 3 Queens - Good Morning. I just wanted to say how absolutely delighted we were yesterday with our 3 Queens sailaway experience, it was a fantastic and unforgettable day!! It was perfect from start to finish.

How lovely to be taken around each of those magnificent "ladies" and watching them sail away together; hearing the blasts of their hooters, people waving, bands playing - just spectacular and quite emotional!

The service of your staff was excellent - please thank them all - the commentary was great, the service of your waiters in the restaurant - the meal was excellent. Paul was very attentive to my cousin who had ordered a celiac meal. Just couldn't fault the day and the price was great value for money.

Thank you Blue Funnel for a first class day!! Sincere thanks Carol Evans

Jubilee Celebrations - Please pass on my very grateful thanks to everyone for all their help in making last Tuesday a very special day, despite the poor weather.

Special thanks go to Rob for his sterling work throughout the day, especially for taking us out on the very early arrival cruise and also for the evening dinner cruise and sailaway, all of which I very much enjoyed.

A very grateful thanks go to Lance for the excellent meal he served to us on the evening cruise, and indeed to everyone who had helped with decorating the tables and making it such an enjoyable time. Everyone I am sure enjoyed it and as someone commented, it was just like a street party at sea, despite the awful weather outside.

All in all it was a very long and very tiring day but I thoroughly enjoyed it, so my very, very grateful thanks again to everyone for making it such an enjoyable time. With best wishes. Yours faithfully Miss G Trueman.

Blue Funnel would also like to say a special thank you to Miss Trueman, One of our most valued regulars. Although a passenger Miss Trueman spent a lot of her day helping out the crew and cleaning the boat between trips. This was very kind and most appreciated.

3 Queens Sailaway - Dear Staff, on behalf of Bournemouth Probus Two Club I wish to thank you for a splendid Solent cruise to view the Three Queens on Tuesday 5th June.

The Upper deck seating was just right and the food was good. The crew were excellent and served us well. I would also like to thank Lesley and Jan for making it all work as promised.

We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves - thank you all. Yours sincerely Andrew D Owers

3 Queens Sailaway - Dear Sirs, on the evening of Tuesday June 5th 2012, we were passengers on your boat to watch the 3 Queens Sailaway and the glorious firework.

We would like to say a big 'thank you' to all, but especially the Captain who not only manoeuvred  to give us such a fantastic vantage point, but gave us a wonderful commentary. It made everything more interesting.

Thanks for a great experience! WM & P E Silk

Private Charter - Hi Blue Funnel. My husband and I would like to send a big thank you your we celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary on Saturday 1st October 2011 on board the Ocean Scene that we were upgraded to from the Ashleigh R...

It was beautiful...with the dinning area separate from the disco/bar area, so it made the event a very special night all tables dressed and laid out for a sit down meal....then after the meal up stairs to party!!!

A special thank you to the chef for preparing the fabulous food that all thoroughly enjoyed!!!......and Paul for being a great host and making the evening run smoothly with organising the night......The captain of course for the nice cruise round and all staff that worked the evening celebration.

We really cannot thank you enough.....all of our friends and family were so complimenting about the evening... We would definitely recommend this as a great experience to celebrate any occasion. Many thanks again, kind regards Julie & Andy Allen

Fish & Chip Public Day Cruise - To the staff of Blue Funnel Cruises. I would like to take this opportunity on behalf of the National Trust Beaconsfield of thanking you all for answering my many telephone calls with such patience. For delaying the sailing when our coach broke down. For helping some of our older members on board. To the catering staff for beautifully cooked Fish & Chips. For a most interesting commentary on our Three River Cruise around Southampton Waters. We had a wonderful day, thank you Daile Luig

Private Function - Dear Lesley We would like to take the opportunity to say how much we enjoyed the day.  The crew were all very friendly and helpful and the boat was just right for our party. Even the rain stopped once we were under way! Please pass on our thanks to all concerned.                                  Kind regards John & Wendy Howard

Wedding - To staff at the Blue Funnel. Thank you for everything you did to make our Wedding Day on 23/07/11 so fabulous. You were all just brilliant!! We loved being met by the Captain and being allowed to sail the boat. Thank you love Jo & Andy Lambert

White Ocean - The professional and friendly approach of the entire Blue Funnel team was second to none; from initial contact, booking, pre-event communication, the event and subsequent communications have all been utterly excellent.

Our time on the water was excellently managed and we were well looked after by Rob and his team onboard Ocean Scene. Rob's ability to put the boat exactly where we needed it to be, to get best views of the round-the-world race start created a most memorable and special day for all onboard. I have no hesitation in recommending the services of Blue Funnel. Adam Tuffnell

The Railway Club of the New Forest - Dear Lesley, please extend our thanks to the crew on our private hire Beaulieu River Trip on 19th August. They were brilliant and very helpful to us all. Not forgetting a thank you to you to you also for helping me progress the hire throughout. Sincerely Ann

4 River Cruise - Please give a "Big thank you" to the office staff and crew for a most enjoyable cruise last Friday. We greatly enjoyed the sail and the food was good, hot and served well.  The Captain gave an excellent commentary which made it very interesting. Thanks again Don Horrocks

MUSIC SOCIETY SOUTHAMPTON UNIVERSITY - Thank you for all your help to organise our 'Ball'. We had an amazing night and everyone loved the boat (and the food!) From everyone at Musoc

ALICE HOLT WI - Dear Blue Funnel Cruises Alice Holt Women's Institute would like to thank all those at Blue Funnel Cruises who made our visit last week so enjoyable.  We appreciate being welcomed on board and all the staff on 'Ocean Scene' were, without exception helpful and friendly.  We were particularly impressed with the layout of the dining area - all in all a very successful day out.  With best wishes from Gillian Green

FIVE RIVERS LEISURE CENTRE - I would like to thank all the staff and crew for a really lovely three river cruise.  We thought that the commentary was brilliant (despite the corny jokes ha ha) Also the fish and chips with salad were served up so quickly and so hot.  We were amazed because we think the galley must have been very small to cope with our large group of 65. Very many thanks Doreen Till, Co-ordinator of Five Rivers Leisure Centre

FARNBOROUGH LADIES LUNCHEON CLUB - Dear Lesley Thank you for organising the Three River Cruise and lunch for the Farnborough Ladies Luncheon Club. Our Visit today was very successful and exceeded our expectations.  Even the weather was better than we had been led to believe.

The lunch was much appreciated and enjoyed by everyone. The dining room on board was very colourful and made us feel in party mood immediately.  The noise level proved we were all having a great time.  We were most impressed by the professionalism of the waiters, all well trained and experienced 'young men' who served us most efficiently and quickly with the piping hot main course.  Everything 'shipshape' as one would expect.

Please convey our thanks and appreciation to the charming Paul and his crew and also the Skipper and commentator.  This was our second visit and a third will surely happen. Thanks again,

STEVENTON FRIENDLY ASSOCIATION - I am writing to you on behalf of the committee of Steventon Friendly Association to thank you for providing the senior citizens of Steventon, near Abingdon, Oxon with such an enjoyable cruise on Ocean Scene round Southampton Water on Sunday 5th June. We especially appreciated the swift, friendly and efficient service of your staff who managed to serve the excellent three-course meal we had on board in record time.

The Four-hour cruise took in many sights, the highlights of which, of course, being close-up views of the cruise ships, Queen Victoria and Oriana and we found the accompanying commentary extremely interesting and informative. We are grateful to you for a fantastic and memorable day out but it was such a shame that you couldn't have arranged some sunnier weather for us. Christopher Naish Honorary Secretary

CHOCOHOLICS - Many thanks for all of your help. The organisation beforehand was done brilliantly and the evening ran smoothly thanks to Paul.  Please thank all involved including chef as everyone loved the food. Thanks Jan! Vicky at Chocoholics

MOTHER'S DAY LUNCH CRUISE March 2011 - To all at Blue Funnel I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for our wonderful trip.  We found the boat very large with plenty of room inside and on the decks.... also the three course meal we had was better than many restaurants we have visited. Plenty to eat, very hot and very tasty.  The staff were great, very friendly, helpful and willing to run around after the guests and their children.  So once again, thank you for our trip and looking forward to booking again very soon.  Best regards P & B K Wyatt

MOTHER'S DAY LUNCH CRUISE March 2011 - We'd like to convey our thanks to your company for an excellent experience today aboard the Ocean Scene on our Mother's Day Cruise.  In particular we'd like to thank Paul (the red haired chap) who in our opinion went above and beyond the call of duty to look after us. It started on embarkment when Paul allowed us an early access into the restaurant as we had a baby in a pushchair.  Furthermore, he sat with our older daughter whilst we tried to rock our baby upstairs during the lunch.  His level of customer service was exemplary and if this note helps to get this recognised (even more) within the company that would be great.  Unfortunately, it is all too common these days to have to complain about bad service so when one receives excellent service as we have today it is all the more important to get this recognised in any way possible.  Many thanks again for what has been an excellent experience and was tremendous value for money.  We'll be sure to let our family and work colleagues know just how good Blue Funnel and Paul are.  Forsythe Family

B.A.T RETIREMENT FELLOWSHIP January 2011 - You have done it again, our New Year Luncheon Cruise on 'Ocean Scene' up the River Hamble and over to Cowes and the Medina River were a great success.  The tables looked lovely and the layout really suited us.  The food was excellent as usual, served on piping hot plates and looked so appetising.  Everybody and I mean everybody kept saying how brilliant, how wonderful, what a great meal, what a great day etc etc.  We were so lucky with the weather a calm sea and bright blue sky - perfect in every way.   May I say thank you for an excellent menu and a very good choice of wine.  A big thank you to Paul Clouder who looked after us all, nothing was too much trouble his aim was to please and he did that in the nicest and most pleasant way.  All credit to his staff who worked so hard and efficiently giving excellent service to everyone, not forgetting the chef who produced such a wonderful meal in such a small space.  Finally I must not forger the Skipper Lee who gave an interesting commentary throughout and the rest of the staff who made our day out such a memorable event.  Judging by the comments this could become an annual event, many thanks.      Mrs Heather Day

PRIVATE CHARTER October 2010 - We would like to express our thanks and appreciation for the very professional service that you provided to us on the Ocean Scene last Saturday evening.  Everything ran very smoothly. The crew were delightfully efficient and courteous and the food excellent.  We have received many comments from our guests echoing those observations.  Once again, well done and many thanks for a excellent service.  David Alexander

QUEEN ELIZABETH ARRIVAL & DEPARTURE October 2010 - This is just to say a very sincere thank you to you all for all your help in allowing us to view the new Queen Elizabeth on the various occasions whilst she was in port recently.  Especially to Skipper Andy for early Friday morning and to Lee for Monday 11th October when we watched the naming of the new 'Queen' by Her Majesty and for the Sailaway on Tuesday 12th. All were very special and Memorable occasions.  Miss G Trueman

NEW FOREST BEACH HUT OWNER'S ASSOCIATION  August 2010 -  Despite the poor weather whcih restricted the Bournemouth Air Display last Sunday most of our members and their guests enjoyed the experience of 'a day at sea'!  Several messages have been received commenting on the smooth running of the event and the excellent quality of the Lunches and Cream Teas provided.  David feltham

LUNCH CRUISE July 2010 - We would like to thank you for a wonderful Lunch Cruise last Sunday. Everyone commented on the excellent meal provided and how good the staff were.  Thank you also for looking after my father with his lunch of soup - very much appreciated.  Les & Sarah  Coach House Travel

TREFOIL GUILD June 2010 - Although we all expressed our verbal thanks yesterday, I felt I must write and say how very much everybody thoroughly enjoyed our lunch cruise yesterday. On opening up my emails today I found a long list of "thank you's"   It is so rewarding to everybody when after the hard work done to organise an event it is appreciated so much, however this would not have been possible without the help of Blue Funnel Cruises. Office staff and crew were superb, nothing was too much trouble and all done cheerfully with a smile. The wheelchair people were so pleased to be able to get to one of our events without any hassle and the help from the crew added to their enjoyment.  One point most of the guests mentioned was the chef who produced a meal of excellent quality, which the cheerful waiters served quickly, nice and hot and on hot plates - not found very often these days!   Congratulations to Blue Funnel on having superb staff and many thanks to everybody involved in making it such a successful day, we shall be returning sometime in the future and will recommend friends and organisation where to go for a good value excursion.   Pearl Davis

WEDDING RECEPTION - February 2009   We wish to express our thanks and gratitude for the fantastic job you and your staff did for our daughter and son in laws wedding reception. Prior to this event, we had never attended a wedding reception hosted on a boat, but thought that it would be both fun, yet different from the usual "run of the mill" locations.
As evidenced by the success of the event, this provided to be one of the best decisions we made concerning the wedding. The beautiful and calm weather conditions on the day helped the smooth running but the biggest hit in our view was the way both you and your staff were determined that everything should run like clockwork. We wish to thank you all for this  Rob & Judy Clark  (taken from our listing on

WEDDING RECEPTION  - It was a fantastic reception after our wedding and we couldn't have chosen anywhere better, John did it as a surprise - nobody knew and ever Yvonne loved it! Some guests said it was the best wedding they have been to, so many thanks to everyone at Blue Funnel.  John & Yvonne  (taken from our listing on
